Antonio
De La Malena
Antonio
De La Malena is today one of most sought after singers coming
from Jerez de la Frontera, recently named La Ciudad del
Flamenco. His artistic career began at an early age, and
at eight years old he appeared on Televisíon Espa?ola
in the revered program Rito y Geografía del Cante.
Most recently he has achieved a great success as a soloist in
festivals and fiestas throughout Spain, as well as an accompanist
for some of the best artists in Spain including Angelita Vargas,
Faico, La Tolea, El Toleo, Juan Ramirez, Pastora Vega and others.
He has toured throughout Europe, America and Asia performing
with artists such as El Torta, Moraito Chico, and worked in
Spains best tablaos, including La Venta del Gato in Madrid
and Tablao Carmen in Barcelona. In 1992, Antonio won the First
Prize for Siguiriyas, Bulerias, Solea and Tangos in the Concurso
de Cante de Cádiz. His recording career began in 1997
with the debut of his first record, Asi soy yo, yo soy
asi, which achieved great success. His second record,
Mi Pensamiento, premiered in 1999. Antonio is the
essence of the barrio gitano de San Mateo, home of the purest
flamenco, and his singing transmits the feeling and purity of
generations of artists. This is his second season performing
with Caminos Flamencos. Antonio is the co-artistic director
of Jerez, Puro which premieres in 2003 at the New World Flamenco
Festival. Don't miss this special evening of flamenco dance
and music! Reserve your tickets, table seating is limited.
