Ballet Flamenco de Antonio Canales

From Madrid, the West Coast premiere of Ballet Flamenco de Antonio Canales
 August 15-17, 2003;  Fri & Sat at 8pm; Sun at 6pm

Flamenco stirs the emotions like no other dance form, and among its stars few generate excitement like the brilliant Antonio Canales. As a soloist he has taken part in numerous international dance galas, sharing the limelight with celebrities such as Nureyev and Julio Bocca. At 40, he dances like a storm - but now with a sophistication that comes of experience. More importantly, his style of dancing has influenced nearly the entire "next" generation of male flamenco dancers including some who have appeared at the festival in previous years. He has also starred in several films, including last year's Oscar-nominated movie Vengo.

Tickets: $38-$52
