ANDRES PENA was born in Jerez de la Frontera (Spain) in 1976, and began to dance at the age of ten. He received his early training under Angelita Gomez, and later studied with various dancers in the flamenco “tablaos,” and formed part of several flamenco companies, among them those of Manuel Norao, La Chunga, Carmen Cortés in the production “Salomé”, and more recently Eva Yerbabuena in the productions “Eva” and “5 mujeres 5.” He has collaborated with guitarists José Luis Montón, and with Juan Carlos Romero, with whom he continues to work. He also collaborated in the production “Sanmaruco” with the singer Duquende, and as invited artist with the dancer Juana Maya. He has appeared with several flamenco productions that have taken him to countries that include the United States, Australia, Brazil, Denmark, Turkey, Poland, France, Germany and Japan. In 2002, he was honored with the award of Young Flamenco Performers in the Bienal de Sevilla. As a solo performer, his credits include the Festival de Jerez in 2000 and 2001; the Bienal de Sevilla in 2002; and at the Teatro Alameda in the Festival de Música y Danza in Granada in 2001. He also toured with other award-winners of the “Jóvenes Intérpretes Flamencos”, including performances in Italy, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, and Holland. Peña has taught classes to the company of Eva Yerbabuena, the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucia, in the school of Mario Maya in Granada, and at the Festival de Jerez. He has also taught internationally in Norway, Greece, Italy, France, Germany, United States, England and Japan. He premiered his first production “Peña” at the Festival de Jerez in 2004, which he subsequently took to Brighton (England) Amsterdam, Dusseldorf, a tour through Belgium, a tour organized by the Toulouse Festival in France; and which most recently inaugurated the I Festival Flamenco de Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the Canary Islands.

His latest production of "A Fuego Lento," a collaboration with his partner Pilar Ogalla, was premiered at the 2007 Bienal de Sevilla and went on to be featured at the Festival de Jerez, where it garnered high critical praise from the critics. In the summer of 2007, Andres was invited to premiere this production as part of the New World Flamenco Festival in Irvine, California, under the artistic direction of Yaelisa. "A Fuego Lento" received outstanding reviews by the Southern California press. His appearance in “Jardin de Mis Sueños” marks Andres Pena's debut in the Bay Area and with Caminos Flamencos.
