The Red Poppy Art House presents

La Tania in
"Velada Flamenca"

November 17th, 2007
7:30 pm and 9:00 pm

Dancers: La Tania, Sandra Gabas, Marina Elana
Singer: Roberto Zamora
Guitarist: Ricardo Diaz

Come experience the mastery of flamenco dancer La Tania in an intimate setting reminescent of the private flamenco fiestas which took place in "ventas" (roadside taverns) while she takes you on a flamenco journey through the many different "palos" flamenco styles. The evening will include flamenco dance, song and guitar and will also serve as a venue to give upcoming dancers in the Bay Area an opportunity to bring their art to the stage.

La Tania is an internationally acclaimed dancer/choreographer and teacher. After growing up in Sevilla, Spain, she started her own company in Madrid in 1991, and has toured the world performing and teaching ever since. Currently she is based in San Francisco where she teaches and develops her work as a choreographer. She has received many awards such as the Guggenheim Fellowship, the Irvine Fellowship in Dance, and the National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship. To her, flamenco is a way of life, something woven into one's living. She wants to share this vision with the community by giving a taste of her heritage to those who have not had the opportunity to experience this art form.

"La Tania is an articulate, intelligent master at what she does" ~Gilles Kennedy, Tokyo, Japan, THE JAPAN TIMES
