the electric Mojácar Flamenco at the Sweetwater Station
Theater on Magnolia in beautiful Larkspur for some great contemporary
flamenco music and dance. The show features the passion and
grace of the Mojácar Flamenco duet, including guitar
virtuoso Stephen Dick and fiery flamenco dance dynamo Katerina
Tomás.
Mojácar
Flamenco's unique blend of flamenco, Latin and Jazz music and
dance have earned them seven awards from the Spanish Ministry
of Culture and two recent L.A. Treasures Awards. The group has
toured the United States and Canada with rock legend Concrete
Blonde, and has performed in concert in Spain.

Biography
- Katerina Tomás
Katerina
Tomás has over 40 years of experience as a dancer and
dance teacher. She studied flamenco with Gypsy dancer Rosa Montoya,
the Gypsies of Granada and Jerez de la Frontera, and with flamenco
modernists Roberto Amaral, Joaquin Grilo, Antonio Canales, and
Eva "La Yerbabuena." An exciting, innovative artist,
Katerina has received numerous awards and honors, including
six grants from the Spanish Ministry of Culture for her choreography
and research on flamenco, and an L.A. Treasures Award from the
City of Los Angeles.
An
accomplished modern dancer, Katerina studied as a child with
Virginia Tanner Children's Dance Theatre at the University of
Utah. She studied modern dance as an adult with Lucas Hoving,
Aaron Osborne, Joe Goode, and Martin Kravitz in San Francisco
in the 1980s, and performed in the Lucas Hoving Ensemble from
1981-1986.
